Are you speaking of folding @ home? or the seti@ home? For folding our team number is 3446 and there is a FAQ in this section.

I installed Folding@home on my mac mini (g4 version). However I'm not sure if it's working or not. The progress bar is at zero percent for a long time. How long does it usually take to complete one of these jobs?
On my Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz its taking about 2 hours per 1%

Came home from work today to find the window on my back door busted open and my Xbox 360 gone. They left the Wii, PS2, 32" Samsung LCD TV, stereo, MacBook, a ton of DVDs, CDs, and games. Just took the 360, 2 controllers, the XBox Live camera and some games.
Called the cops, they came out, dusted for prints (didn't find anything good), tooks some pictures and wrote up a report. I still have all the reciepts for the 360 so I was able to give them the serial number and thanks to Delicous Library, I had a list of all the games that were stolen.
Funny thing out of all of this: I had a set of Monster Cables for the 360 which force the system to run in HD. Whoever took it will have a nice surprise when they get it home and find out they can't run it on their SD set. (Kinda assuming they won't have an HD TV if they are stealing a 360...)
But really now, who the heck does that?? A bunch of ********* kids I'm guessing. "Oh, lets steal the $400 Xbox instead of the $1500 TV or the laptop." What is this world coming to?? I live in a quiet neighborhood. The only thing I have ever seen a cop around here for is to break up a party down the road on New Years Eve. There are families with young children, a newlywed couple, a couple friends down the road. We all know each other, nobody has ever had a problem like this.
The cops didn't give me much hope for recovering anything and I really wasn't expecting them to. It just really ticks me off that someone can have such little respect for someone else's property. Its not even a matter of the money, my landlord has good homeowner's insurance and he is a friend of mine so I think he will file a claim for me.
Anyway, I just thought I'd post my little rant here and toss my gamertag out there. If anyone sees rtdgoldfish on Xbox Live, let them know they are a no good peice of ****** playing on a stolen system. Or if anyone knows how to track something like this, that would be great!
Man that sucks hard. Last year our apartment was broken into and my girlfriend's 17" Powerbook was stolen and oddly enough some undergarmets from Victoria's Secret. That was all they stole too...I didn't understand why they didn't take the plasma, stereo equipment, jewelry etc. The cops said that the theives were probably in a hurry...
Anyway, there probably isn't anything you can do about it. The cops almost never get prints and (at least in my area) are pretty apathetic about this type of thing. In our case, they didn't really investigate too much at all. There were reports of similar cases at other apartment complexes around the area but I got the feeling that none of the police departments share evidence or collaborated on it because when I called the detectives about it they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about.
My parents were on vacation last year and their luggage was stolen out of their car. They tried to file on their homeowners insurance but the insurance company said they had to have pictures and reciepts for everything they lost. So now my Mom takes pictures of everything she buys :) ....She asked me to run to the store and get some milk for her last weekend and I felt like asking her if I should bring the camera.
Delicious Library is an awesome program!
In any case, install an alarm system. We have a wifi camera system, an alarm, new locks, and the complex put a guard at the gate. Hopefully, that is enough to deter any more burglaries.
If you guys don't already know about them, look up bump keys. They are scary. Anyone can open up just about any lock with minimal effort.

Wow, those little flash cards are small - it would be quite amazing to get that much memmory in a PDA, Phone, Camera - with 4Gig you wouldn't really need to ever worry about downloading the images regularly - but its got other great potential as well. If they're cheap enough that same technology could be brought together to create solidstate drives that have 100 Gig and don't cost $35,000 a piece.
Is there any mention of the price of these things?

What? Another Bradley Student? Who are you?
Yep another fellow Bradley student. I'm a freshman who lives in U Hall.
But to keep the post on topic (cause we all know how important that is;) ), has anyone else seen any ads on their campus? I've seen a few posters up and it really seems like Apple is trying to push the student discount. Being a freshman I wouldn't know if this was new or not so I was curious.

Didn't see that coming! No really, seems that nobody likes Excite Truck from what I've heard on the forums.
Music in Excite Truck is awful. But I suppose that's a premature judgement as I've only heard a single track on it, ever since day 1 I've been using a spare SD card loaded with MP3s. We Didn't Start the Fire and Tubthumping go very well with this :p and that strange Doctor Who/Holiday mix too...

No main memory RAM exists that does 6.4GB/sec. The fastest RAM is 1066 RDRAM which clocks out at 4.1 GB/sec. Next October Rambus is coming out with 1333 RDRAM which will max out at 5.2 GB/sec.
You won't see anything faster until mid 2004. You are dreaming if you think Apple will have the Power4 in the PowerMac in Jan. 2003. All you will see is a faster G4 that Motorola will call G5 clocking at best 1.6GHz, built w/ 130NM tech, with a 512 cache, and maybe at best a (real) 333 DDR front side bus. Not the overclocked crap Apple is pushing now. Motorola is too broke and losing too much money to make anything faster.
And the Power4 is incompatible with AltiVec based software. Developers won't spend millions to rewrite their software to run on the unproven Power4.

don't even go there. :o I went out and bought Bullet Witch & SSX Blur today  That on top of Motorstorm PS3 arriving in the post :D  :D I'm not sure if I'm a gamer or addicted to shopping :D
You need to start your own rental service and recoup some of those gaming funds; you'll probably turn a profit in a week's time with all the games you've been getting lately mate. ;)

ddtlm,
alex_ant was talking about a G5 8500 specifically. had he said 85xx then that would include the -40 and -60 models. however the general assumption is that a desktop Macable model would be labeled 8500, and no such processor is shipping or has been officially announced.

*** "It's ALIVE!" ***
You've gone mad!!
*ahem*
The community has changed quite a bit since I've been here (approaching 3 years come July), mostly in size and participation. Its quite a bit larger than what it was even a year ago which is part of the reason why I don't post nearly as much as I used to, chances are whatever I want to contribute to a thread has already been said by the time I get to it. Another is because I've been Mac-less for awhile and feel a bit out of place among much of the forum, I do try to help out when I can though.
Aside from my issues, the forums here still feel like a community nonetheless, its the one I visit and participate the most in even though I visit other boards on a regular basis.
The one thing I don't like about the forums getting as large as they have is there tends to be a lot of repitition which I think can drive some older members away, like as mentioned before, a lot of things get stated or asked over and over again and it gets quite frustrating. Regardless, its still worth it to visit here as much as I do and see what's going on, even if I don't seem to participate as much as I have had in the past.

My friend contracts... err. Anway, he told me 2 weeks ago a black one was coming, but wouldn't give me any other details. Like it mattered though, since most of these things were already leaked/rumored.
I suppose this means that some of the people that buy the black 360 will post with some kind of superiority complex, just because they waited and bought the latest revision of a console. Not that we don't already see that sort of thing with the current consoles and tech in general.

Now what does that say for a G5 @ MWSF?? I don't see it being released, maybe IBM will end up taking over. If Moto can't give us 1.25ghz right now they got issues.

Those of you experienced in Apple releases, do your usually announce products in the morning or in the evening. Powermacs were unveiled in the morning... Are there going to be monitors at all...

My answer depends on what measures Apple had taken to ensure that the company were following Apple's supplier guidelines (ie any monitoring or just laissez-faire) and what measures they take now that lapses have been admitted - both against this company and to ensure that similar problems aren't happening at any other supplier.

The Wii's already online in Japan (heck, since December!) thanks to Pokemon. Why not?
I'd only be surprised that it's not a first party game that goes online first.
