Um,
Don't know what chart you were looking at, but with both processors being used, the 1.25 kicked the "snot" out of the PC's.

We will all have to wait a year for it, but it should be worth the wait.
IBM looks like its going for the jugular on ol' Intel/M$--Mac and Linux OS's running on their new chips. Cool.
The blurb about the G5 by Motorola was also encouraging.
This is all good news for me--someone who is not planning an upgrade for a year. I'm sure it is an agonizing wait for people buying Mac towers now, knowing the foundations of the technology are going to change dramatically in the next 12 months or so.
I wonder how this stuff slipped past Apple Legal. I mean, unveiling the next chip when you can't sell the current towers has got to sting a bit. Doesn't help when benchmarks put the 1.25 ghz in a dead heat with the old 1 ghz machine in many respects.
The best news is that Apple is no longer technologically hamstrung by Moto for their top-end hardware. IBM is just the kick-in-the-pants Moto needs to get crackin' on faster chips.

that story is quite funny (except for the folks who got burned while getting out). i'm surprised they weren't offered anything for their trouble - seems quite rude for the store manager to not give anything to them...

Apparently they're ditching the hand crank for a foot pedal. Really it's more like a plus-sized palmpilot than a computer. But it's a good idea.

i'd like to see bluetooth implimentation in ipods (and i think we will) for the reason of file transfering and syncing, as people have said... i think it would be cool if you brought your ipod in your pocket to a friend's house and their stereo could access the music on it, or your car stereo, etc etc. i don't give a rip about headphones. anyone that can't handle tiny earbuds connected through tiny wires to a tiny device should just get speakers. then you don't have to worry about anything! total range of movement, and the ability to share the stream with other users.

Oh Good! They got rid of that stupid extra window. Using expose or command-squiggly (~) always showed an extra tiny window that could not be closed. All gone... WHee!!
Yeah, the extra Expose' window is finally gone. Way to go FireFox.

That does look rather nice - Vaio laptops look fantastic :). Weighing in at 3.8kgs/1.3" thick/1.5 - 2hours battery life I think it's still a little outside what Apple would regard as acceptable at present though. Perhaps rev 2 or 3 of the MBPs.

Try sending it Mac OS Rumors for their weekly update of meaningless facts, speculation and old news. It might pep the site up a bit :D
Okay, that was cruel, I'm sure a lot of people still go there purely for the entertainment value.

There is actually a reason to buy a Radeon 9700 Pro or a GeForce 4 Ti (or the upcoming NV30), and it was already mentioned. The ability to plan current games at high resolutions (1600x1200 or better) with 4x anti-aliasing (and antiscoptric filtering) and STILL have them be playable (75+ FPS). That makes the current games look a helluva lot better then what they do even on a Radeon 8500.
However, that reason alone may or may not be worth $400.

Thanks for the story review, MRU. I feel pretty good about the game and will probably check it out. Now I'll go and read up on the gameplay and decide for sure. I'll keep you all posted. :P

if you want to call it quits, let me know, otherwise i will keep working on this. No, let's get this thing working! Working on a WU that is :D
Hereunder more answers on your questions. Didn't quote them:
is your account an adminstrator account? - Don't know for sure, can do pretty much everything on it.
are you allowed (buy the company and/or 'it guys')to install programs and make changes to the computer? - Yes
are you on a domain or just a workgroup? - I think it's a domain, don't know for sure.
anything else being blocked on your local computer (i.e. can you browse the internet without trouble?) - Nothing else is blocked, and can use internet without problems, even have iTunes radio on from time to time.
are you running any 'firewall' software on the computer, or is the firewall in the 'server closet' with the 'it guys'? - Not on my computer, it's somewhere in the IT department. There are about 900 computers in the network, 2 companies that make use of the network. Every department has it's own domain.
anything you don't know how to find, let me know. i will have more commands for you in a few hours after the w2k box is done and running. sounds like a route/firewall issue so far. we can use some w2k commands to check what is being blocked, and then create a route around it. again, as long as the 'it guys' are not going to try and hurt you or something ?!? Well, I have a freepass from them that it is allright to fold! I will try to install F@H on a computer with XP, maybe if that works... but don't think so. Owh, and thanks for taking time for me!

Two things, darkwing.
First, is the way that Super Paper Mario is being done. It's a different style than the others: Platformer w/ RPG elements as opposed to RPG w/ Platformer elements. I'm not a big fan of RPG's anyhow, so the previous Paper Mario/ MRPG games don't interest me the way that SPM does. It's probably why you thought "Hey, cool" @ SPM and "Geez this sucks" @ PM. :)
Yeah I played MP1 but haven't beat it yet. Owning 2 just encourages me to finish it. :)
[broken record]
Second, and I know I've pointed this out several times before (1 (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=1972609&postcount=36), 2 (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=2744059&postcount=172)), but when you get to MP 2, beware of the glitch (http://www.metroid2002.com/prime2/index.php/Sanctuary:_Main_Research_Broken_Sonic_Locks).
Still pissed about that one to the point where I haven't replayed it once (replayed the original 4-5 times)

Fink, while Apple hard ware is lagging behind (for now), and it is expensive. I for one am not ready to abandon ship.
a. I hate, no, I loathe, Windows XP.
b. I love Apple designs
c. I love OS X
so, I will hold on to my money, and if Apple disappoints me or makes me wait too long, I will just buy a new car, and be content with my desk top this the G5 is out.

So I have not seen my 360 on my network since Friday :(
That leads me to believe they either noticed the wireless adapter was connecting to a network and unplugged it or they got rid of the system. The investigator came back out today and said they need more evidence before they can get a warrant and he doesn't want to knock on the doors of the two houses I think it could be in case they do still have it and decide to ditch it when the cops are on to them.
So basically, I don't have much hope any more of getting my system back. I am thinking of calling the cops and having them just knock on the door and see what happens. Maybe the people are stupid and have the system sitting in plain view and the cops will notice it when they try to question the neighbors.
I'm going to check out my local EBGames again and see if they have anyone that traded in any of my games or even the system.
That's rough.
Have you considered trying to contact Microsoft and hope they could try to track your X-Box with your serial number? It might not work out because I remember a thread here about a stolen Wii and how Nintendo doesn't track their consoles and could end up being a legal hassle, but perhaps Microsoft has a different policy.
Despite the police not being very tech literate, I'm a little surprised that the police couldn't send just an investigator to look like they were asking neighbors about your stolen property.
Honestly, your best bet once you had Connect 360 talking with your X-Box was probably to create a scheme to confront your neighbors, but nobody likes a confrontation right...

There's only one time I had to worry about different cockspeeds, and it had nothing to do with a computer.
But, seriously, folks...
I think a desktop-replacement book would be nice, but only as an adjunct to the current or similar TiBook... there's not a whole lot of competition on the PC side (it seems you either have lower-end iBook-like books, or big heavy power-sucking monsters.)

Ah, but the whole reason PowerMacs and PowerBooks come with L3 cache is because there isn't enough system bandwidth for the way it would work otherwise (i.e. just sending the data through). The PPC 970 may not need L3 for awhile (if at all) when there's a 6.4 GB/sec interface between the CPU and northbridge chip.
