All of the major Apps are dual aware, as is the OS!
Try that with XP Home.
i don't think there is an easy way to test a mac vs a pc for speed issues
but overall, i like barefeats and i think those tests give one a general idea of what a machine can do and are not specifically one hundred percent accurate all the time in the tests
sometimes magazine comparisons between two pc machines are not equally matched in terms of ram, video card, etc...
one thing is certain, the athlon is faster than the duron, the pentium 4 is faster than the celeron, and the G4 is faster (in photoshop) than the G3...but beyond that, it is hard to get a perfect reading
my overclocked 2 cents;)

Phones are what Apple needs to get into to leverage iTunes. Motorola just did not understand the concept and even Jobs didn't look too keen on it.
Leave the phones as they are; just build a mini-Java iTunes client (since more and more phones support Java) that lets you specify a playlist of x size to pull over from your regular computer iTunes. Oh look... now iTunes is available on every phone on any network. Forget buying songs over the phone (it's too long-winded and I don't want my album purchases showing up on my phone bill) just let me hear what I've already got.
My k750 takes good enough pictures for quick snaps and I've got the odd song on it to use as an alarm/ringtone but there's no way it's replacing my camera/my camcorder or my iPod. And while I can use it as a Bluetooth modem, it's not replacing my ADSL2+ broadband connection either.

Yes it's true. I was referring purely to the G4, which is a Motorola design and product. Since there is no competition on the manufacture of faster G4s, Apple has sunk in a bad hole. I hope IBM won't sink another hole in Apple. Apple seems to prefer a single company to do a single type of processor.
True that IBM did manufacture some G4s when Motorola couldn't supply enough. But IBM wasn't allowed to produce faster G4s. That was my point.

It's a different economy. Many people are obviously quite content to work building the players.
15 hours? That's only three to five hours more than Rob or I work on an average say, so meh.
Do I wish they were built here? Yeah.
Could I afford one if they were? Probably not. :o
I'm with you on this one...in all areas.

How much do you know about Apple? (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4860790.stm)
I got 9/10, and the one I missed was a US magazine survey.:) It's very easy.

Crackdown, along with Saints Row seem like petrol station breaks before the destination. GTA just has a level of humour that doesn't seem as contrived as Saints Row, and personally I'm not keen on the future style of Crackdown (note my fave GTA so far is Vice City).
Because dialogue is very important in these games, and because GTA usually has great dialogue and no over the top super powers, just feels much more refined. Despite the previously buggy-as-hell engines.

oh, and if the internet provider is giving you the run-around.
http://www.ip-adress.com/
go here, type in the IP address and it'll tell you exactly where the server is that they are connected to. It gives you the IP latitude and IP longitutde.
tell them that it is being connected at this server location and they'll be able to location exactly which hub it's being connected at and .. yea. trace the burgulars home down..
its says I'm from Phoenix but I"m not from there.....or is that where my ISP is from?

There are sneaky ways around that here.
Virgin Megastores, GAME and HMV sell point cards at 20 for 2k points.
Nintendo Shop they're 14 for 2k points.
Woolworths used to have them at 12.99.
GAME had an offer on, buy anything in store and get a 2k points card for 7. I don't think there was a limit on the cheapest item or the number of 7 points cards purchased.
Always a way ;)

As my capacity as an Apple helper I mentioned it to the kbase people. Looks like it was a typo. Yep, they fixed it.

..whats the point since your are there allready? annoying.
Kind of reminds me of how the "manual" that came with os x.1 was an advertising pamphlet. I was like, I already bought the damn thing thanks, you don't have to try to sell it to me again.
Apple continues to disagree however.

Cool, cheers for that. I don't want to see the TiBoot replaced anyway. I haven't seen a better computer around. All it needs is a slightly high resolution and I'd say its near perfection (for my use anyway).

... they will not allow me to upload the file in any larger than two mb chunks. Is this using their Control Panel? If so, do you have shell and FTP access to the server?
The problem I run into is that because my database is about 25 megs in size...With reference o your thread title: 25MB is really quite a small amount of data, for comparison I regularly work with databases that are several hundred gigabytes in size.
Sean :)

If you've never used this program, and you're a casual/interested stargazer, I strongly recommend giving it a look. Heck - even if you just occasionally like to look at the stars every once in a while, it's very slick. Two thumbs up - no idea about this additional pack, though, but I would assume it's just additional stuff to the original.
I've used Starry Night since my days on the ol' Performa 630 CD (when I believe it was freeware). Indeed,... this program is superb.

Good God! I just searched for my first post and it had to deal with a Apple PDA! Nowadays I can't even stand reading posts or threads that have the letters, PDA, in them.
What can I say, though, it's fun here.

Success of Xserve is important to the future expansion of Mac on the desktop. Not tomorrow or next month but years down the road as businesses are exposed to the Mac in that enviroment, it makes Mac on the office desktop a more palatable idea. In turn, the computer at work becomes the computer at home.

The optimized builds (well at least mine (http://camino.ilnm.com)) aren't based on the same code as 0.8.3, but off of the latest code.
but won't the latest optimized builds be based on 0.8.3? or is the latest code not the same as the 0.8.3 code?

Hey Apple58, where you been?
Are you going to say anything to those of us who doubted you? I wouldn't blame you if you did, but I guess I'd respect you if you didn't. I just posted something about you coming back to dance around saying "see, I told you so". :D
I can admit when I'm wrong (ignore my signature), I was just hoping you'd stick around to defend yourself. I hate it when people won't stand up for themselves. Especially when they're right (which you were).
Sorry if I was a d*ck, no hard feelings. :)
