Multiple core sounds nice. So does Altivec-compatible.
But what's this stuff about the "Apple Processor Interconnect Bus"? Is that Apple's rebranding of Hypertransport or RapidI/O?
This Most Worthy CPU also being fine-tuned to work with the Apple Processor Interconnect bus (ApplePI), Apple�s Replacement for the venerable MaxBus.

Desperately need opinion on possibility of new iBooks! I need a laptop but am willing to wait until January if new iBooks are on the horizon. I won't wait till June or July of '03, however. Do you think it's likely that we will see new books soon or not? Thanks.

Yes--no sign of Final Cut Pro having been altered. Why remove a nice feature of the bundle?
Sountrack is still mentioned in the Final Cut Pro info at Apple.com--and in fact, Soundtrack itself still has its own page at Apple. It's just the store that no longer lists it. So by itself it seems to be gone, but it lives on with Final Cut.
Maybe the next Final Cut will just come with a video-enabled GarageBand variation?

This new Sony would be the coolest sub notebook I've ever seen! Now, if Apple made it, it would be a huge hit, especially bundled with iMovie!

Yes, you'll need a video card. Onboard video would work fine for something like that -- I have a headless file server that I sometimes need to plug a monitor into if the VNC is being a pain.

IT would be suicide for Apple to overclock the 1 ghz chip as a 1.25 Ghz chip as the only speed upgrade for line. I know moto is hurting getting any sort of viable upgrade out but that would be pathetic.
Does the whole line run much hotter or just the 1.25?
What about all the talk around the case's cooling properties being for the "new chip" or much faster G4 models yet to come?
If the duals are running that how- I don't expect to ever see them in the powerbook

if they put in 2 MB l3 cache, they will almost certainly trash the DDR. it seems like having the happy fast bus makes the L3 less of a priority... i think i would prefer the 2MB L3 myself; it seems like DDR would be a power hog/ heating unit

I launched a new product at work and the guy who owned the domain with the same name as the product emailed me and asked me if I wanted to buy the domain. Said he was getting all kinds of traffic meant for me. Said he had a few competitors interested in buying it. I offered him $500. He said he was getting bids well over $10,000. Told him he should take it.
Emailed me 2 weeks later asking for $1000. Said I'd give him $100 and it was my final offer. Domain is still parked.Oh, now I understand. I have been experiencing a problem similar to the one experienced by the guy who phoned you. People who cross the Brooklyn Bridge keep writing out their checks to pay the toll in your name. It is costing me a bundle to get my bank to convince all of those banks that the money is meant for me and not you. Quite frankly, I am tired of it. I will sell the bridge for $200,000.00 US + 90% of checks that you receive made out in my name.

It would have been nice to put OS X on my fairly new 1.3 AMD, or even the 1.6 P4 at work (if nothing else than to save the TORTURE that was my Win98/2000 install from HELL, freakin' M$. Now I can Crash twice as fast!). But we know that won't be happening anytime soon.
Can't wait to get a new Mac to replace my old one (that I no longer have BTW) after I move. Maybe a nice Cool (pun intended) iBook (c'mon 1 GHz G3 + 32 MB vid card), or an eMac to play with untill I can afford a new Tower. Who knows what we'll have by then?
GigaHertz, shmigahertz. If I can run FCP off of a 320 GB hard drive in almost real-time with out the crashing, I'll be happy.

sadly, there are still going to be a bunch of mac users using explorer. every time i walk into one of our campus computer labs, there are rows of macs with safari and firefox sitting right there in the dock, but what are all of the kids using? you guessed it. everybody knows the ugly blue E and they think that IE is the internet - there's nothing else.
Until your computer services department decides to standardize on Firefox on all platforms :)
