Thats just the nature of 3D. Optimizing your geometry and having a nice renderfarm are the most common solutions.

Yeah, since I joined MacRumors, I've learned a lot and I'm more paranoid. Go figure. Thanks Arn, for being a voice of reason.

I wouldn't waste my money on a dual machine, that's why I'm waiting for the G5 before I buy my next Mac. Even if I have to wait another 2 years. 1. Hasn't read a damn thing ever.
2. Hasn't tried a dual processor machine.
3. Hasn't thought through where innovation comes from.

p.s., I always think it's so funny when people spell "retarded" wrong. Ironic, eh?

I didn't realize that ddr ram was part of the heat issue. I thought it was just the processor that triggered that problem. I guess a produt redesign will be necessary to intigrate such features. Does anyone think the next revision of the poermac migh include hot swappabe hard drives like th xserve? that would be a first and a good draw to converts. no need for firewire drives (if a home user).

I was always led to believe that the Apple logo (with a bite taken out of it) was chosen in memory of Alan Turing (creator of the first electronic computer at Bletchley Park during WW2) - who commited suicide by taking a bite from an apple laced with cyanide - after being threatened with jail for being gay. I saw a program on TV about Apple many years ago that gave this story of how the company logo came about. Surely Apple would be advised to use this version of events in court rather than saying it was Steve Job's liking of Beatles music - which might only make Apple Corps (beatles) position stronger!!
Even though the first apple sold $666 I really don't think they are that morbid.

um, that's ogre - and its starting to prove you lied about your age......I asked that question in all sincerity
For the sake of marketing, Apple's PowerMacs should be called workstations, not desktops. I've argued this countless times before, BTW, and I can't understand why anyone won't get it through their thick skull!
Don't start arguing semantics here - regardless what they're called, they are the top end of the macs - that was the what I was refering to them as.
Everything I'm mentioning here is the way things are done in the PC world. If Apple truly wants to convert more PC users to the Mac, then they need to mimic how the PC world works as closely as possible to make 'switchers' more familiar and more comfortable making the switch. Of course, they should still use PPC hardware and still continue to be just as innovative as they have always been.
Ah, this is a dead end arguement - not really even worthy of a response - your profile has you listing a Dell as your computer - do you even use macs? Macs for most people are much easier to use than PCs, if you don't agree, well, you're entitled to your own opinion. Personally I would never want to see Apple try and be more like a PC, period.
So if you continue with your inflamitory remarks, this thread will be closed. Try and take a more rational approach to your responses, ok?

I would be worried that the employees would no have knowledge about the MAC OS and would push people on to a windows PC b/c they had no idea how OSX works. Comp USA is totally different where all the employees seem to enjoy the macs and know the software. They also carry a lot of mac software and accesories.

The next Office is coming out for MacOS too... out of curiosity, why do you want to run it in Vista?
EDIT: Somehow, I find the palettes much more appealing than this, though... :(
I work in a graphic arts firm that often has to create presentations for our clients. We design on the Mac, but due to inconsistencies in PC PowerPoint versus Mac PowerPoint, we only create the graphics in OS X, then import them into a PC PowerPoint application to create it. Too many funky issues if we don't.

On the 14th of September at the Apple Paris Expo, there may be an update of an iBook, or something. This is from resources that state: 'Knowledge is just a click away: how will you use the new learning opportunities?' It seems like something. What do you think?

You're overbloating it. No one needs a 23" iMac. 19" is enough.

no. no. no.
You only have to pay a licence fee if you USE equipment to receive or record broadcast signals.
This has been discussed here before ad nauseum (because it is an important principle), but OWNERSHIP of a device that can receive broadcast signals is not the same as USING the device (which then requires a licence).
I think there's a further distinction to be made here. As I understand it, you can own a device capable of receiving broadcast television signals without having to purchase a licence, but it can't be set up to do so.
If the TV Licensing Authority search your premises and find a piece of equipment tuned in and set up to receive broadcast television signals, arguing that you don't actually use it for that purpose wouldn't absolve you of your liability.

If I were a more cynical man I might say that 'user-generated content' (such as a large number of blogs and user-submitted reports) is a cheaper way of filling up a website than employing proper journalists and writers to do it.
But I'm not. So I won't.
