I don't think it's too much of a living wage in other parts of the country.
For a student, and certainly for a student living at home, it is still fairly good pay though....
(am I right on all this  :o )
8 opens the posibility to not have to work 40 hours a week, and still be able to move out of the parents home while taking classes.
So 8 is awesome! You still have to work alot if your school does'nt offer dorms, but its almost $3 more an hour than minumum wage!

As for being difficult to manufacture... Apple doesn't even manufacture the TiBooks itself. And they do make a massive profit off them. $1000+ on the high-end model (at least that's how it was with the rev Bs). If they want to sell more, they should lower the prices, but that's obvious.
My problem with the TiBook is its paint. It chips. I don't understand why Apple couldn't have chosen some kind of scratch & chip-resistant automotive-type paint, or used gray plastic instead of carbon fiber for the frame, or something. If not on the rev As, then on the rev Bs or Cs. This paint-chipping problem has been around forever and it still hasn't been fixed.
Same for the body. Why paint the titanium? Why not just have shiny bare titanium? Anyway, why titanium at all when magnesium is lighter and more rigid? A black anodized magnesium PowerBook, using the same design as the current TiBook, would be awesome.

Hello
I have a double screen setup and often end up moving the mouse around just to find the pointer. Is there a little app around that makes the pointer :p wave at you or something to attract the eye?
Many thanks

After typing start1 and start2, you need to type exit to leave that session.
Quitting terminal after typing exit won't stop the folding.
Thanks! I already restarted after I typed crontab -l, but that didn't work. F@H now works, with a closed terminal window!

the northgate all in one is pretty cool looking for a pee cee of course, however the OS aside its a very cool looking machine very tech looking, in my opinion the imac flat panel is cool looking and all, but it does not give off an ora of seriousness, it looks like my luxo lamp :( but i'd still get one in a heart beat over any pee cee, i want my cube tho :) dual ghz cube upgrade with maximum ram and an upgraded slot loading dvd cdrw combo drive the only problem is no ddr ram, and system bus speed is stuck, and the graphix card can only be upgraded so far, but the pee cee version of a classic imac looks cool, has usb 2.0 firewire combo drive, ddr ram, p4 blech, and a tv tuner built in so you can capture ur fav shows which i like, i really want a detachable lcd screen that is connected to the computer via some wireless standard and will allow me to surf the internet, play games, etc anywhere in the room and has a touch screen!

In fact, I can tell you the answer outright: x1=20000, x2=20000, x3 = 400000000. It took me 2 seconds or so. Does this mean that I am a better computer than a G4 and a P4? No, it means I realized that the loop can be reduced to simple data assignments. I have a better compiler, thats it.
I'll see about adding more thoughts later.
there is a lot a compiler could do to this - by us all (well, those who have the interest in the assembler output of a compiler at least) having a look at what the respective compilers have done, we can form more of an informed opinion of what works out to the benefit of the P4 for this case. This might all be a bit geeky, but I am intersted at least.

Some links for the John A. Vink fan club:
Here, at his friend Duane's homepage, is John talking about California (http://home.istar.ca/~sqm/NEWSTD.HTM).
Here, he is the 13th entry in Kelvin Chin's guestbook (http://books.dreambook.com/kchin/kelvinchin.html).
And, for the timid, don't click on the brain surgery link here. (http://www.javworld.com/)

The G4MX is a fine card I have it in my new Dual/Ghz/DDR it was $100 less then the ATI9000. There is a big but here though. If you want to run the latest upcoming and greatest games you will want to upgrade in the future. That is why I got the G4MX in the first place because I plan on upgrading to the ATI9700 or the nVidia GeForce5 when it comes out. Either of these new cards will cary with it a ton of ram, all sorts of hardware lighting and texturing and will also be about 4x faster then the G4MX.

I just noticed when checking my points that we are at #22. Very sad, I remember that we were at #20 when I started. We were the number one Mac team.
Looking on the positive side. Since bousozoku said that we were at #33 at one point. Then it doesn't look as bad.
