A bug in installing search plug-ins can allow malicious code execution, but requires tricking the user to install a specially crafted search plug-in. Input validation errors in InstallTrigger and other XPInstall-related JavaScript objects could allow malicious code execution. Looks like it's mainly a Windows problem...
...but, anyway, I already got the Mac version of Firefox 1.0.3... so I don't really care... ;)

I can't live with Safari or Firefox on the Mac. I tend to have them both crap out on me every couple of days or so; particularly in the middle of something important like ordering a huge amount of supplies for my lab.
For some reason the lightweight KHTML engine seems to render slightly slower than the Gecko engine. I know there are hacks to get around this, but even then I notice a lag. This is on OSX and on KDE under Linux and BSD. Gecko is fast, but the XUL interface present in Mozilla and Firefox tends to be pretty resource intensive.
Due to those complaints I have to use Camino. It is relatively lightweight, stable, and fast. It also integrates into OSX system components, and is a Cocoa app, so the XUL overhead isn't present. Using Camino extra prefs, it is a little less spartan and a little more customizable. I don't love it, but it lets me get my work done.
Hopefully Firefox 1.1 will work out the issues I have (it is planned to). Then maybe I can finally have my killer browser for OSX.

Well it does make since in some ways. The Network Adminstor doesnt report to school adminsters. He reports to the superindent at best and with 52 schools one AP is small fries and request like that will not aways be taken care of.
As for proxicing out it. that not really going to work simplely because the computer still has to route back to the school and go though there web blocking. Now if there was let say a personal computer at home he could remote desktop to. that could get around it since that computer does not deal school networking.
Prox has it limitions. A VPN might work since all request are sent though it but then again that gets into some pretty messy stuff to set up.

I think this program is great. It will make it a lot more convenient for people to play their music anywhere they like. DRM is one of the reasons (in addition the the crummy AAC format) I don't buy music from the iTunes music store. I like being able to play my music where *I* want; I don't want Apple/RIAA putting any restrictions on that.

Cubase has implemented a utility called "System Link". It makes 2 machines, Mac or PC, process like one single Uber...thing. It probably only works while running Cubase but you may be able to look into how it works for some ideas.

I am running FAH on two computers and I checked to see how many points the projects were worth, and it turns out that the project is the same on both computers. Am I going to get credit for folding it twice, or should I have one of them start a different protein?

I am really really sorry this does not relate exactly to your question. However I have always wondered what exactly folding is. My understanding is its utilizing peoples home computers to do calculations of biological proteins.
What I am wondering is what exactly do I do to start folding and is there a thread that it explains it and two will this be alot of wear and tear on my 2 yr old PB. Will this strain my processor and hard drive to much?

I have a good friend who worked for the artist that designed the apple logo. (he's also done lots of others like ebay) That isn't to say that jobs and company didn't tell this guy the general idea but I think that he probably had the biggest influence.

I've always used firefox as an alternative for a browser on my PC. I was considering using it for my mac when it used the mac aqua them in 0.73. Now, firefox uses the same theme all across OS's.
Firefox has more features than safari: allowing pop-up for some sites and blocking cookies from some sites) I hope that safari in OS 10.4, tiger, will improve a lot. I still download the latest firefox version for my mac; there are times when some sites do not work safari and do on firefox.
Sometimes i wish safari used the mozilla gecko engine instead of konquerer ... that way website developers only have to worry about compatibility issues with 2 browsers instead of 3. Firefox on mac is fast, i'm sure apple programmers could make it faster.

In the last 4 pages of this forum topic, I think I remember something about you saying you were able to see that persons IP address while they were logging on to xbox live through some program.
well, i don't own an xbox 360 or any console at that.. the last console I've owned is the Nintendo NES :confused: .. I don't know exactly how that program works, but if your able to get an IP address, you can go to http://www.urgentclick.com/address_trace.php
and find out what type of internet they are connecting through, and what company is providing them with internet service. ie: dsl, cable, satellite.
for example.
68.190.xxx.xxx traced to: 68-190-xxx-xxx.dhcp.gldl.ca.charter.com
thats my IP address, it's dhcp (Cable) in glendale, CA. @ Charter communications
at the time the xbox were to connect to XBox Live.. if you get the IP address and run this search, the police would be able to call the internet provider, provide them with the IP in question and a warrant (or whatever is needed), they would be able to give you the perpetrators address.
then just bust down that guys door and the xbox is yours again.
I used to work for comcast communications as a customer service rep, and whenever the police would call in with something regarding theft or IP trace, etc., the process was simple. Literally plug in the IP address into the database and after a simple search, the customers profile would pop up.
if this is done fast enough, you can most likely catch them in the act..
