It always makes my day when I stump a Mac employee. I feel like when you stump one, you should get their job. That would make for the best Apple employees. All the time.
-Apple guy: "24 tracks?"
-Me: "No, 48. Have your locker cleaned out by the end of the week."
kind of like killing the supreme chancellor of the klingon empire gives you the job of supreme chancellor?

I've been waiting for a change to the iBook line-up for a few months, which I know is kind of too soon...but the addition of a 12" DVD model isn't what I was waiting for... I guess it is cool for people to have options, but I was hoping for some better specs.

Really? I don't believe you! :D
Believe him. And they DO watch. Probably reading this thread right now. If I were you I'd delete all the info that identifies you here, and NEVER come here again. Just move along, and enjoy your new journey. Bon Voyage! (Now get lost)

It could be that 7455A == 7457, but I dunno.

It's probably not great, but who knows. I mean, those lines are for voice anyway. There might be some overhead, but I'm sure there's something on their site about it. A FAQ or something. Otherwise, I'm sure you could e-mail them.

Hey everyone,
I'm doing a resarch paper/senior seminar project for university on online communities and their ties to the online and offline worlds. NOTE: This paper will NOT be published...I repeat...this paper will NOT be published. This is purely for a grade. Thanks. With some interest in Apple myself obviously, I'm looking at the impact of sites like MacRumors and AppleInsider on Apple in the offline. Some questions to pose:
1) Is Apple's stock price affected by rumors stemming from such communities? Are expectations raised, do you think analysts and investors read these sites since Apple is so secretive?
2) Why do you participate in this community? What draws you to it? Is it casual entertainment or do you feel connected to the community and compelled to contribute?
3) What is your opinion on the steps Apple has taken to quiet some of these rumors sites (AppleInsider, PowerPage.org, ThinkSecret, etc.)
4) Overall, how is Apple affected by these rumor sites (recall the Mac Mini fiasco two years ago)
5) What do you enjoy about MacRumors specifically? How is it different from other sites? What makes it stand out?
6) Which forums do you find the most enjoyable to participate in? What do you think about this site's specific layout and separate of things such as Politics/Religion and Miscellaneous threads from Apple/Industry specific threads?
7) Anything else you'd like to add.
Any comments and discussion are greatly appreciated. PM me if you'd like more info about the project or have anything else to add. Thanks!

A more interesting question is: Has anyone received an email from teh Steve?
I e-mailed one of "his e-mail addresses" a while ago and got a reply a few days later signed "Thanks, Steve". Doubt it was him though...lol.

As of today October 10, 2002 until December 31st, Apple is offering to double the base RAM for only $40 extra on all new Macs.
So you can get a single 512 stick with the dual 867 or dual 1 GHz MDD PowerMacs or 2 - 512 sticks with the dual 1.25 GHz for only $40 extra.
Note that asterisks (there are more at offer site)--these suggest that you can't get an extra gig in a PM even if you order it with a gig and that Apple might use up 2 slots or more to add 512.
* Base RAM is based on the computer purchased and can be either 128MB, 256MB, or 512MB. Maximum Double RAM available through this offer is 512MB. RAM upgrades over 512MB -above base configuration- include the promotional savings.
* Maximum double RAM available is 512MB for $40.
* Additional RAM may be installed as either a single larger capacity replacement RAM DIMM chip or by adding additional RAM DIMM chip(s) as required, exact method to be determined at Apple's discretion.

2 Computers:
Dual 2.7Ghz G5 PM and 400Mhz G4 PM
The Dualie I use for all my graphics design/web and video work and the G4 I use for downloads, mail, scanning, printing, etc. They are networked together for fast file transfer. No portables or laptops, I am saving for one of the G5 PB's when they come out, hopefully I won't have to wait too long...

We're on the same sheet of music, Java...
I for one don't know a thing about using XP/2000 on a desktop, as I have no desire to learn it. I was a windows man from the days of 3.1 thru 98SE, and then I had to go back to Apple, having left them with my IBM PCXT in 1982. I like the IIe, but IBM seemed to be more serious about software at the time. I missed the whole Mac thing, and only joined in with my lastest rig.

Thanks! Very cool widget. Now all I need is a folding farm, or at least a computer that will fold faster. My 1.33GHz PB (not running 24/7, more like 18/5) and 800MHz iMac aren't exactly tearing through the WU's.
