I think Microsoft is using hard drive capacity against the PS3. 120 GB vs. 60 GB. What are you going to choose? Ignoring BluRay (and it's likely consumers will ignore BluRay), this may appear to be the better buy at quick glance especially with an online media store behind it.
I hope this would mean a price drop on the Premium box, but I'm guessing not :(
If the Elite went at a 399 price point and the Premium takes the 299 price point, it would be a glorious day :) But, it's not going to happen anytime soon. "Late-summer or fall" at best doesn't help me.

Typically I attend the Photoplus Expo in NYC every year and as much as I love it there, I would like a change for 2007. Are there any free or registerable Apple trade shows where I can walk around and look at new Apple products/demos?

So did I, thanks for posting the link. But pvong, my votes for your nephew have been refused the couple of days. I keep getting a message I've already voted.

For what is worth I have a Newton 130 for a long time I was thinking if I should be "hip" I get one of those Palm/Visor things. Finally about two weeks ago I got one a Visor.
After two week of use I find to be the most useless pice of SH**T I have ever gotten the os itself does not come even close to the Newton OS, the graffiti BS is so frusttrating, you can't fax, print out of the box you have to go out and buy programs for it to even make an attent to replicated what the Newton can do. On my newton I can fax, send emails, even browse the web right out of the box. So in conclusion if this picture is the Newton OS/OS X lite Devise that apple is working on I hope they come out with it like yesterday is not fast enough. In the mean time I going back to Newton and given the visor up for sale on ebay to see if another sap will buy it.
Cheers:D
PS I'm writing this post on my newton!!!

I'd have to dissagree with you there, even in the x86 world Mhz is not a clear rating, take the P4 and XP+ for example.
The top Intel CPU at the moment is 2.8Ghz, while the AMD 2600+ (2.13Ghz) is AMD's best offering, even though there is almost a 700Mhz speed difference there the AMD will still be as fast if not faster as the apparently (going by Mhz) supreme Intel.

Well its about that time again, I went searching and dug up the oldest active posters. The list is getting smaller. Here were the Criteria. Join Date Before 2000-01-01, Join Date After 2001-06-01, Most Recent Post After 2004-09-15.
Its only a list of 23, there are not even 30 people still active from these dates kinda sad.
The first name is the oldest active poster. I included rank too.

I wish people would understand that this program is mainly created so that people who use Linux (don't know if you have heard of it, it has a larger market share than Mac OS X if I remember right  ) can listen to the music which they have purchased.
Uhm why is the program Windows only then???

I see no problem with this, other than the price. One can get HDMI (if they need it, I don't) and a larger hard drive. If it runs cooler than that makes it even better.
Does this make my 360 any less fun? NO!
Does my 360 function just as well as it did before this rumor? YES!
Nothing is future-proof. I think it's great that they are going to keep improving on the 360. Nowadays consoles don't last as long as they used to. So if lots of 360 owners keep playing these, 3 or 4 years from now they may wear out their original purchase and have to buy a new one....in which case it would be nice to have one that's a bit better than the original. I'm not saying it's right that consoles break down, but it happens (lots of my friends went through 2 or 3 PS2's and one of my friends has had 2 original Xbox's).....though none of my friends nor myself has had to buy a 2nd GameCube :)
They need to put the price at the current premium though.....$399 USD. And after this limited edition goes away these improvements need to become the standard for the premium and the current premium needs to become the core system. There is no reason to pay that price at this point other than to have the black version (as it is close in price to a PS3 with no wireless and no hd/br playback). They also need to make the 120GB HD at a reasonable price ($99 or less) so those of us with 360's already can upgrade, and provide some way for us to transfer our content from the 20GB HD to the new one (since they aren't allowing USB HD's yet).

when i got my ibook, which was manufactured in summer-1999 and listed for $1599 us, i got a 300 mhz G3 processor, 32 MB of 66 mhz sdram, 3 GB hard drive, 4 MB agp graphics, and os 9.0
the next day i bought a compaq presario 1272 laptop, manufactured in spring-1999, $1599 us, and i got a 366 mhz amd k6-2 processor, 32 MB of 66 mhz sdram, 4.3 GB hard drive, 2 MB pci graphics, and windows 98
i would clearly say that these two machines were marketed for students and home users who were then looking for a bargain computer under sixteen hundred dollars
while the higher clock speed compaq presario had a larger hard drive, more output ports, more software bundled, pcmcia, and floppy against the single usb ibook;
i found the ibook to be much faster in everyday use for e-mail, internet, and word processing
it would be fun to get an $1199 ibook and get an $1199 dell laptop and use these machines every day for three years and see what kind of performance i get from them
...of course, at $1199, the pc laptop would give me a dvd optical drive vs. the cd-rom in the ibook, and a 14" inch screen vs. the ibook's 12" inch screen, and the pc would include much more software:p
