I gave it a bit of a workout for a day, and twice Firefox 1.0 stopped recognizing mouse clicks. Menus would pull down but fail to do anything, requiring a force-quit to recover. There also seems to be a problem with Javascript and tabs, pages are hanging if they aren't the visible pane.
Oh well, maybe they'll get a cleaned-up 1.1 out there soon.

Im not sure what your saying?
Im looking at the configuration below at the educational store, and a toal of $2658.80, either way I go Im going to have to lease/finance it as im not one of the most well off people but still need a laptop for school, work, etc...

'd have to agree; the real tip-off is the space between "Power" and "Book"... (i.e. it reads "Power Book" not "PowerBook" as it should). Great piece of wishful thinking, though...
Uhh, look closer (or, even better, open it in Photoshop and blow it up 6000%, like I did). The "r" blur touches the "B" blur, while the "k" and the "D" are seperated by whitespace.

Good God! I just searched for my first post and it had to deal with a Apple PDA! Nowadays I can't even stand reading posts or threads that have the letters, PDA, in them.
What can I say, though, it's fun here.

its even on Version Tracker (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/25287)
But, of course, with no feedback, as of when I checked.
Edit: VPC7 is, what, $100 more? For once, I'd say it's worth it. Yes, the VPC versions that include Windows cost even more, but I'm assuming you've got your own licensed version, since you'd need one for this as well.

I am starting to think that we'll be seeing perhaps new screens before the end of the month, may a new digital device; but no new hardware until next year.
I know that's a sad prediction, but I think that we'll see some major upgrades some time next year.
that is of course if Apple wants to stay in business.

I chose "NO: I don't really care" because, honestly, I don't. I could have picked "NO: I am concerned but will let others punish them" but I suppose what's closest to what I really feel is "NO: I don't really care because others will punish the OEM suppliers if need be."
I think it's naive to assume that any other manufacturer doesn't use OEM suppliers which do the same thing. I won't stop buying Apple products because of it. If they were grinding small children up to make the casings or whatever, then, yes, maybe I'd care, but, as it stands, nothing I do will stop those workers from being abused by that company. If I stop buying Apple and buy some other supplier's system, then I have no proof whatsoever that such a purchase will in any way reduce any sort of labor abuse.
To think that not buying Apple products will (a) alter Apple's opinion at all and/or (b) will in any way positively affect those workers is wishful thinking.

The trouble with DRM is that it often affects the average Joe consumer more than it hurts those it's intended to stop.
CDs that don't play in a PC annoy Joe Public who buys a CD and wants to listen to it on his office PC while at work. The guy who planned on pirating it can easily get round the DRM and go on his merry way.
DRM embedded in iTunes annoy Joe Public who burned a track onto his wedding video and now can't distribute it to the wedding guests without working out an authorise/deauthorise schedule.
The record companies assume everyone is out to be a criminal while the 'criminals' don't bother buying DRMed files or strip out protection and do what they want so just as many files end up on P2P networks and on dodgy CDs on street corners.

Well there's one dramatic difference:
64 - bit only OS X 10.3.... so no more Mac OS 9 boot (just Classic mode).
32 - bit should still be able to boot OS 9

It's the only incentive they can come up with that doesn't end up putting a dent in profits. Ram is the cheapest component of the PC right now, so they figure an incentive that doesn't cost them hardly anything is the way to go. I can't say I blame them.

Just hang in there, Apple will eventually update their PB's. Maybe keep checking the refurb section of the apple store for cheaper models? I've heard good things about Apple's refurbs.

Anyhow, for the emaillist, we definately have to have a signout address if people think it's spam. We could also have an email or webpage that is made out of RSS feeds about folding. No hassle with updating, it does that by itself.
Who will step up to volunteer to manage this email list thing? Could one of the moderators/admins of this forum round up all of the folding members' email addresses?

well they had no reason to take it down. not like it took up much space. i think the front page will be a-changin soon..!
also, and it may just be that i am looking for it and forgot what it was actually like, but didn't the search box at the bottom next to the "Visit an apple retail store" popup usually have rounded corners?
