Shrek, its not personal - if you put a little thought into your threads there wouldn't be a problem. Like KC said, it might just be poor timing.
Again, I'm not out to sabotage your thread - what you had posted just didn't make any sense to me and I was responding. So don't let this stop you from starting a thread in the future.
And as for King Cobra - ask him about his Vacuum Of Infinite Density - or better yet, do a search for that. You're not the only one to get a little flak! :D

When I go to that site (using Safari), I get the message:
*** Currently the A9 Toolbar runs only on Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or above. We are working to extend the toolbar to other browsers. ***
When visiting using Firefox, I get a completely different page. They should change the message on the first page to mention Firefox too. Otherwise, if it weren't for this post on MacBytes, I would have no idea that it's compatible with Firefox.
With Camino, it says " *** Currently the A9 Toolbar runs only on Firefox 1.0 and above, and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or above. We are working to extend the toolbar to other browsers. *** "

I think the Apple is really taken from the Apple that, according to legend, fell from the three and inspired Newton to come up with the laws of gravity.I agree with Mitthrawnuruodo's interpretation. And I've been there so that proves it!

The 20 gig is the best deal for the money, and leaves plenty of room for all your contacts, and calendar events if you want those features. No regrets on the purchase here, well worth the money.

The only 'risk' they were taking by bringing back Jobs was the risk of actually having a successful company.
Change is not risky. Not changing is what's risky.
Er no - not exactly. Jobs was actually surviving on Pixar money and NeXT was going down the toilet - it was just the software that saved it. Jobs spent pretty much his entire first fortune on keeping those two companies (Pixar and NeXT) alive.
He had failure after failure with things like the NeXT cube and workstation, despite them being great pieces of kit.
If Disney hadn't stepped in to fund Toy Story then it could have been a completely different story for Jobs, NeXT and Apple (though I reckon he would have surfaced somewhere else if that had all collapsed).

I wasn't talking about DRM or iTunes.Okay, but your comment was in reply to maticus' one about the opinion that "breaking the law is breaking the law". Who was, in turn, talking about iTMS and related issues. Sorry if I lost track somewhere but I assumed you were talking about the same thing.

XP also will freek out if it has no video card. I once got a certain BIOS to go on with no video card but XP shot that idea down really fast.

G4/G5 optimized firefox builds are faster...
Not on my G5 here. Testing the javascript capabilitys with BenchJS (http://www.24fun.com/downloadcenter/benchjs/benchjs.html) Camino is faster (under 10 seconds) than the G5 optimized FireFox (17 seconds)

Did they send the G4 packing because Apple is going IBM? Discuss, speculate, fight and bicker as needed. :D
Dave [/B]
I think they did it to save money, plain and simple......this is the trend for the past two decades.

Are you basing your prediction on reason and research or plain apple fanboyism?
If you read the first article, it says:
"In early representatives of Apple and Creative, including Apple CEO Steve Jobs, met to discuss ways they could work together, the complaint stated. Apple requested to license Creative's technology and also suggested it could invest in a potential spinoff of Creative's music player business, but Creative declined both proposals, according to Creative's complaint."
Why would apple do this? It is obvious that apple knows it might lose, hence trying to break a deal outside of court.
That meeting occurred FIVE YEARS AGO. Well before Apple could have even thought of Creative suing them for an interface. I think the mountain of prior art by, well, almost everyone (like NeXT, and since Apple bought NeXT, all of that prior art is now Apple's), will probably end up invalidating Creative's patent.

The power4 will be a single chip - what you will get though is probably multiple CPU cores on one chip - so a quad, octo or 16 CPU core chip could be possible - to hell with 10x speed for me, I'll be looking forward to 50x - 100x!
But all this is somewhat speculation - based on some real data - the Power4 we see talked about in October might be a little different then what we expect. I've seen anything from 1 GHz to 3+GHz - single to 16 processor cores, so there is potential for some truly amazing times ahead.

I wonder if anyone knows of a good app to use with my UMAX scanner that runs under OS X 10.3.
I get tired of rebooting from OS X to OS 9 just to use my scanner!
I tried launching the app that came with the scanner under OS X, but the drivers do not load and the app cannot find the scanner, (UMAX MagicScan 4.5).
Any suggestion?
Thanks All! :)

I just got hired. I'm bummed because checking MR is always the highlight of my day. :(
Congratulations! My friend just got interviewed (some kind of pre-interview, where they make sure he's eligible to work there...)
Losing MR stinks, but I'm sure the Apple store will be terrific!
Good luck!

Having both an iMac G4 and a TiBook 800, I have seen noticable speed differences between the two.
Any disk intensive activity tends to be faster on the iMac which has a faster disk.
Any CPU bound processes tend to be faster on the TiBook which has the L3 cache.
There are any number of factors (some of which have been stated above) that can cause speed differences. And for a chart to be useful, these differences need to be listed as well.
For reference the TiBook is at 10.2 and the iMac at 10.1.5, I have a couple of pieces of software that broke on 10.2 and am awaiting updates for them before upgrading the iMac.

I'm a bit disappointed as well. I've been waiting for reasonable display prices from Apple for long enough. Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't just buy the Formac Gallery 2010? I mean, I like the widescreen look of the apple displays, but for $500-1300 less (depending on which Apple display you want to compare it to) even with the old rebate, I'll get over it. Plus I think the Formac has even nicer styling, and it seems, better performance than the Apple displays in terms of brightness, viewing angle and color accuracy. Am I wrong? Is anyone aware of any issues or limitations regarding these displays?

Apple confirmed shipment to ClubMac this morning. 150 G4 1.25 boxes are in route. Should arrive early next week. 100 of the 150 are sold, including mine.
