Cablevision Launches New Live TV iPad App Posted: 03 Apr 2011 01:31 AM PDT Cablevision has launched its own live TV app for iPad. Called Optimum for iPad the new app gives the cable company's millions of subscribers access to the full channel listing of the network. It comes with support for almost 300 linear TV channels, access to 2,000-plus video-on-demand (VoD) titles, and a DVR control feature to boot. The free app, which also features a new searchable guide and is accessible only within reach of a customer’s home Wi-Fi connection, “allows the iPad to function as a television,” said the MSO, which views the tablets as another outlet in the home. In addition to approximately 300 live channels and access to VOD [video on demand], the Optimum App for iPad integrates enhanced guide information that makes it easier than ever before for customers to find the content they already receive as part of their cable television subscription. Programming is fully searchable, including by genre, and the application includes the ability to schedule DVR recordings and manage previously-recorded content. In its press release, Cablevision also takes content providers head-on with its argument that the functionality is permissible under current licensing agreements. Cablevision’s key argument hinges on the fact that the content is not delivered over the Internet, and instead comes directly through the its digital cable network before being transmitted to the iPad via Optimum modem. Cablevision uses its secure and proprietary Advanced Digital Cable television network to deliver cable programming to customers for viewing on the Optimum App for iPad, and content is not delivered over the Internet. The application turns the iPad into an additional television, enabling Cablevision customers to view the same live programming and VOD content already being delivered to other TVs in the home as part of the service they have paid for. Cablevision has the right to distribute programming over its cable system to iPads configured in this way under its existing distribution agreements with programming providers. To Buy Click On Ads:

Use Amazon Cloud Player on Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch [How To] Posted: 03 Apr 2011 01:14 AM PDT Amazon has already released "Cloud Player", a streaming music service. At the time of announcement, they didn't mention whether or not it would work on the iPhone, or any other iOS device for that matter. But Christina Warren has found out a workaround that will allow you to use Cloud Player on your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Just follow these simple steps to get the service running on your own iDevice: 1. Open Mobile Safari and navigate to Amazon's Cloud Drive website here, then select the Music folder on the left navigation menu. 2. Choose the song you'd like to play by selecting the checkbox next to the track name. 3. Tap 'Download' above the track selection list. 4. Put in your earbuds and enjoy the streaming music! While this work around isn't perfect by any means, it does work if you want to play songs from the Amazon Cloud Player on an iOS device. To Buy Click On Ads:

Improve Battery Life of iPhone Running iOS 4.3/4.3.1 [How To] Posted: 03 Apr 2011 12:52 AM PDT If you have upgraded to the iOS 4.3 on your iPhone 3G/3GS or iPod Touch then you might have noticed somewhat faster battery drain. One way to help remedy this problem is to disable Apple's Ping service introduced starting from the iTunes 10 – a social music discovery service. Since you probably don't use it anyway, here we'll show you how to turn it off. You can disable Ping on your iPhone running iOS 4.3/ iOS 4.3.1 by following these simple steps: 1. Launch Settings on your iPhone or iPod Touch by tapping on it. 2. Then tap on General. 3. Next tap on Restrictions. 4. If this is the first time you've been in Restrictions, you'll need to enter in an Passcode twice. Or if you already have an Passcode just type that in. 5. You'll see that everything listed under Allow is set to ON by default and they're grayed out. Tap on Enable Restrictions. 6. Scroll down to Ping and turn it off. On this iPod Touch we also turned off FaceTime because it's never used it anyway. 7. Go back to the Home Screen and you'll notice that the Ping button is no longer listed on the bottom. You can also try it on your iPad or iPod touch if these devices are also exhibiting the same less battery life issue after upgrading to iOS 4.3.1. To Buy Click On Ads:

Posted: 02 Apr 2011 11:38 PM PDT Apple uploaded a new commercial in YouTube to promote their second-generation tablet, the iPad 2. The new ad entitled as “We Believe“. This ad is different from other ads as it's slower, and more emotional. It announced the new features of the iPad 2 like "thinner, lighter and faster," than the original iPad. But aside from the "innovations," Apple also explained that technology is "not enough." The new commercial is obviously targeting other powerful tablets that will arrive this year, including the released Motorola Xoom, the first Android Honeycomb tablet that sports better cameras than iPad 2, plus full internet experience with Flash support, and better user interface. Anyway, Apple's new iPad 2 commercial also means that you don't need other tablets that have better tech specs like 2 to 5 megapixel cameras, better speaker, and support Adobe Flash, because Apple believes that tablets are post-PC devices, and not a device that will work as your "next PC." iPad 2 Can Take X-Ray Photographs Through Clothes Posted: 02 Apr 2011 11:08 PM PDT Jason Bradbury, an Apple expert has discovered that the iPad 2 can take xray photos that can see through clothes. By applying a filter after blasting a subject with infrared light, the iPad 2′s camera can see through clothing. He demonstrates the hack in this video. The steps are quite simple: 1: Flood a subject with infrared light. Bradbury recommends using a digital camera with a night vision mode, or a children's toy that uses infrared light. The infrared light penetrates the clothing and will be able to be picked up with the right filter. 2: Cover the camera on your iPad 2 with two layers of cellophane. The cellophane acts filters out the natural light enough to wear the infrared light comes in stronger and is picked up by the iPad 2′s camera lens. 3. Start snapping pictures. With your infrared source in place and your filter setup you are now ready to start taking some amazingly cool photos. To Buy Click On Ads:

Posted: 02 Apr 2011 11:03 PM PDT Kia’s really been cranking out the cute little concepts lately and they unveiled another one at the Seoul Motor Show.Kia Naimo expresses sophistication through simplicity of design B-segment electric utility vehicle combines Korean heritage with high-tech innovations and this four suicide-door EV is trimmed to the nines with tech including an air wiper………
Making its world premiere at the Seoul Motor Show, the Kia Naimo electric concept car combines Korean heritage with innovative modern features. Taking its name from the Korean word “Ne-mo“, (pronounced ‘Neh-mo‘, meaning ‘square shape‘), the Naimo electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV) was conceived by Kia’s international design team in Seoul and is characterized principally by its simple lines and solid, muscular stance. The uncomplicated overall design is accentuated by a number of striking key details, such as the wraparound windscreen and asymmetric sunroof design, and the front and rear dot-style LED head- and positioning-lamps. This juxtaposition of simple and complex is a common trait of many traditional Korean arts and crafts. Asian Celadon-style pottery, in particular, was a major influence on the car’s styling with the pottery’s asymmetric form lending itself to the sunroof design, and the typical jade coloring giving Naimo its unique exterior finish.
Kia‘s design team also made use of innovative technology features to give the car a premium feel and to ensure the car’s exterior remained uncluttered. For example, Naimo has no traditional wiper blade on the windscreen instead it employs a high-intensity air jet at the base of the windscreen that performs an ‘air wiper‘ function. Conventional door mirrors have also been replaced with miniature cameras installed in the A-pillars.Naimo‘s interior was designed to evoke a strong sense of tranquility and features hand-crafted materials throughout. Korean oak is used to trim the interior door panels and the entire interior floor, Korean “Han-ji” paper is used for the head lining. Alongside these traditional elements sit modern features such as a TOLED (transparent organic light emitting diode) storming display instrument panel and full device connectivity. The third electric vehicle design to be unveiled by Kia Motors Corporation in a year, the 3.9-meter long Naimo concept explores the practicalities of introducing a zero-emissions, five-door, four-seater city car into a future niche market.
Measuring 3,890 mm in length, the Naimo‘s generous wheelbase, width and height (2,647, 1,844 and 1,589 mm respectively) plus the short overhangs which place a wheel at each corner – ensure that the cabin provides exceptional head, leg and shoulder room for the occupants. The concept car has no B-pillars and features rear-hinged rear doors to maximize easy access to the cabin and a three-way split opening trunk allows versatile access to the load bay for varying luggage sizes. Power comes from a PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) electric motor with a maximum output of 80 kW (109 ps) and maximum torque of 280 Nm, enabling Naimo to reach a top speed of 150 kph (93 mph).A twin-pack 27 kWh battery is located under the trunk floor and uses innovative LiPoly (Lithium Ion Polymer) technology that offers numerous advantages over other battery types. Equipped with this battery, Naimo provides a driving range of 200 km (124 miles) on a single charge. To enhance range, the showcar is fitted with special low-drag 20-inch diameter alloy wheels.Under the quick recharging cycle (50 kW) the Naimo‘s battery can be recharged to 80 percent of its capacity within 25 minutes. Under the normal cycle (3.3 kW), 100 percent power is attained after five and a half hours. Naimo will join Kia‘s growing test fleet of hybrid, electric and fuel-cell vehicles being extensively driven in widely varying conditions to develop future production models with zero or significantly reduced emissions.

Rumor: Apple To Add Camera To The Next Generation iPod Nano Posted: 02 Apr 2011 09:24 PM PDT Rumor about the Apple’s next gen devices is not a new one. Almost everyday we got some rumor about Apple’s product. This time we’ve got about it’s next gen iPod Nano. A new report from Taiwanese site Apple.pro recently leaked plans of the revised iPhone 4 built for CDMA and Verizon before its launch, and prior to that it published pictures of a miniature touch screen that later arrived in the current iPod nano. According to the report, a source in California sent the above photo claimed to be the rear case for the next-generation iPod nano, displaying what appears to be a camera hole in an upper corner. The casing discovered by Apple.pro is virtually identical to that used for the sixth generation iPod nano, as shown in the image below taken from an iFixit teardown. The only difference, of course, is the big hole in the top right-hand corner. Apple.pro has occasionally offered accurate information in the past, perhaps most notably with the posting of photos of a small touchscreen that appeared in the sixth-generation iPod nano a few months later. Once a technology exclusively reserved for Apogee's most advanced audio converters, Soft Limit is now available in Duet. This superior analog design prevents the digital clipping that causes distortion by instantaneously rounding off transient peaks before they hit the analog-to-digital converter. Soft Limit allows several more decibels of apparent level to be recorded while subtly providing an analog-like warmth to the sound.By very popular demand Duet 2 includes 4 analog outputs. Stereo headphones or left & right mono speaker outs can be assigned in pairs to output 1-2 or 3-4 or the low latency mixer and each can be placed in stereo, mono, muted or dimmed modes. It is now possible for a DJ to monitor a separate mix in headphones while sending a house mix to the club, a live performer to send a click track to in-ear monitors while sending a backing track to front-of-house, and a recording engineer to send a headphone mix to the performer while dedicating the main outputs to studio monitors.
Available as a separate accessory for Duet 2 is a solidly built, aluminum breakout box with 2 1/4" instrument inputs, 2 XLR microphone inputs and 2 balanced XLR outputs. The breakout box features studio-quality I/O connectors and includes a 2 meter cable for connection to and from Duet 2.Duet 2 offers balanced outputs for connection to any studio monitor or outboard equipment. There are many benefits to balanced outputs including the ability to run cabling long distances, reduced susceptibility to external noise, as well as simply offering compatibility to a much wider variety of audio equipment over unbalanced connections.Along with its sleek aluminum chassis, the multi-function controller knob is one of the most recognizable features of Duet's design. This central control feature allows you to quickly and easily toggle thru Duet 2′s inputs and outputs and set levels while looking at Duet 2's dynamic OLED display. System Requirements:

Posted: 02 Apr 2011 10:09 AM PDT With the release of the second Developer Preview of Mac OS X Lion, several blogs have posted about it’s new features and changelog. The new build of Mac OS X Lion implements a more in-depth iPad-like experience in Mac OS X iCal application. With the new look, Apple has given the experience to the user of a desktop calendar with a leather binding on the top of the calendar. Also, like the iPad core app, it presents with animations, such as pages tearing off, to give a more intimate, realistic experience. Lion introduces a brand new multi-user screensharing system to switch option very fast. It will be possible to log into a computer with his own account while another account is currently managing and using the machine; the "remote user" will still see his desktop environment, all his files and applications. Reports are also confirming that iChat has also receive a bit of a makeover as Cupertino has changed the software to consolidate all the configured services. Before this, iChat typically displayed the members of different services in different windows. Although Apple has finally built in a unified buddy list into their chat software, add-ons to the current software, such as Chax, can bring together all your services into one window. As of right now, Mac OS X Lion is still in the working stages. Apple software notes list a number of defects and developers continue to report issues in the software. To Buy Click On Ads:
